The Idaho City Police Department joins statewide seat belt enforcement effort May 20 – June 2, 2024
Idaho City, IDAHO – The Idaho City Police Department is partnering with the Idaho Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety (OHS) and law enforcement agencies across Idaho, urging drivers to buckle up. May 20 to June 2, 2024, officers will join a statewide enforcement effort, issuing citations to those not wearing their seat belt and educating Idahoans on the importance of all drivers and passengers buckling up.
Seat belt stats:
-According to OHS seat belt survey data, 87% of Idahoans are making the safe choice to wear their seat belt.
-Buckling up is the easiest thing you can do to protect yourself during a crash. It increases your odds of surviving by 50%.
-In 2022, 66% of the passenger motor vehicle occupants killed in crashes were not wearing a seat belt.
The statewide effort coincides with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Click It or Ticket campaign with law enforcement officers across the country.
